Stolen

It was rough

You had it hard

But look how beautiful

You are

You’re strong and you’re smart

And you have a dedicated heart

And though the pain of the past

Was a furnace blast

It’s made you a gem

And the fractures you feel

Are where the light comes shining through

It's Not for Nothing

It's not for nothing that I sing

It’s not for no one that I bring

The gifts and hungers to the King

In spite of both our sufferings

To the ones woven in cold eternal stars

To the ones echoing in the chambers of their fevered hearts

May I sing of you?

It’s not for nothing that I yearn

Walk unknown, in silence burn

Burn like tinder, burn like floss

Silver rising from the dross

It’s not for nothing them bells ring

Through grief and joy’s own offerings

When they deny you I swear they do not know why

They are only terrified

When they wrap themselves in sheets of steel

And dreams of desolation, resolute, brave and foolish

I weep with the mind of one who has been blessed

With the unseen and impossible

It’s not for nothing that I listen

It’s not for nothing that I wait

From all the trails of starlight cascading upon us

Moment by moment

From all the crystalized words that swirl right through me

From all the written and unwritten sources

I hear of you

The Hart and the Hind

The Hart and the Hind

Ordering the tides

Scampering the Hebrides

No one can find them

The Hind and the Hart

Living for everyone

Blown by the same breeze

That upset the applecart

Light on the water

Rain on the trees

Birds in the bower

I’m on my knees

All of these days

I’ve had to breathe

Don’t let them end

Until he loves me

Hart and Hind

Wandering in  parallel

Above and below

Dreaming of our wishing well

Heart and mind

Only together tell

The numbers in kind

where they should go

I love you

You love me

Funny how the simple things

Are so hard to see

Body, soul and mind

Trying to light

A flame from all time

Already burning so bright

Living on vinegar

Praying for wine

Dreaming of the Hart and the Hind…

The Hart and the Hind

Watching the river flow

Nothing in mind

You don’t already know

The heart and the mind

Watch their story fade from view

Sinking in time

But not as deep as me and you

We Came to Be

It can go from light to dark with a flip of the switch

Sally tried it and paid with her pride

Watch what you are handling it could put you in a ditch

Is could stick to your thinking

And you’ll never again see daylight

It can go from dark to light just as fast

Just hitting the bottom can do it

With a blink and a cry

You can finally see why

You should gratefully get around to it

And sometimes if it all means too much to dream on

It's best to just let it all go

And wander alone, your hands to the Lord

Your head and your heart bowed and listening

Serve out your days

With faith, hope and praise

Though the flame of your youth has gone missing

The embers are still shaped like your name

And there at the end of the game

You will become who you came to be
